What is MAXIFS function in Excel?


The MAXIFS function is one of the Statistical functions of Excel.

It returns the maximum value among cells specified by a given set of conditions or criteria.

We can find this function in Statistical of insert function Tab.

How to use MAXIFS function in excel

  1. Click on an empty cell (like F5).

2. Click on the fx icon (or press shift+F3).

3. In the insert function tab you will see all functions.

4. Select STATISTICAL category.

5. Select MAXIFS function.

6. Then select ok.

7. In the function arguments Tab you will see MAXIFS function.

8. Max_range: the cells in which to determine the maximum value.

9. Criteria_range1: the range of cells you want to evaluate for the particular condition.

10. Criteria1: the condition or criteria in the form of a number, expression, or text that defines which cells will be included when determining the maximum value.

11. Criteria_range2: the range of cells you want to evaluate for the particular condition.

12. Criteria2: the condition or criteria in the form of a number, expression, or text that defines which cells will be included when determining the maximum value.

13. You will see the results in the formula result section.
